Fatts Russell is the Best Name in Sports: January 22nd CBB Picks
2020 YTD ATS Record: 17-13
Rock solid Tuesday night. 3-2 including a +205 winner with Illinois winning outright as 6 point underdogs on the road at Purdue. The Big Ten has been an absolute feasting ground for home teams this year but I just had a feeling about Illinois last night. They've been red hot and made me look like a god damn sharp.
Big Sharp the kids are calling me now. What a world. Let's get after tonight's slate.
URI -3.5 vs Duquesne
Fatts Russell is my king. I love betting on URI, I love Fatts Russell's game, I love that Fatts Russell's name is Fatts Russell. I love everything about it. I love tough, experienced guards that can score and shoot well from the free throw line. They're the kind of guys that make the smart plays and close out tough fought wins. Duquesne is 15-2 but they haven't played anyone as good as URI yet and have two matchups with 7th ranked Dayton still on the horizon. They just barely held off a trash ass Fordham by two. I think URI pulls away in the second half and covers this number relatively comfortably.
Syracuse +4.5 and ML +165 @ Notre Dame
Cuse is starting to find their rhythm in conference play. They've won three games in a row over Virginia, Boston College (by 26), and Virginia Tech. Syracuse already played Notre Dame at home and lost by 1. I think they pull the classic conference split here and Syracuse wins outright in South Bend. Buddy Boeheim knocks down a couple threes to settle down the home crowd and Cuse pulls off the upset.
Temple +2.5 and ML +130 vs Cincinnati
I feel like I'm becoming Mr. Fade Cincinnati and this point and without Mick Cronin there I'm more than capable of wearing that. Temple has been Jekyll and Hyde this year at times. They've lost to some not so great teams but have shown flashes of being very good. They knocked off a strong Wichita State team in their last home game and I think they get a tough, grind it out win in Philly tonight at home. When you get a hunch, you get a hunch and on this game I've got a hunch.
Iowa -5.5 vs Rutgers
Taking the home team in Big Ten games has been Betting College Basketball 101 this year. I'm a sharp so I saw it coming last night with Illinois but overall Big Ten home teams have been absolutely dominant this season. Rutgers is playing great basketball and is ranked for the first time since 1979 so I hate to do this to them. They've also been a team that personally has been good to me on the betting season but I think Iowa rolls here. Just when you think something is too good to be true it usual is. Now, I do think Rutgers is a legit tournament team but Iowa and Luka Garza are a tough matchup for them here on the road. Both great teams this year ATS (Rutgers 12-4-1 and Iowa 12-5-1) but I think Iowa keeps the Big Ten trend on track and wins by double digits at home.
